EMISSIONS & FAULT FIXES

AdBlue Delete

AdBlue / SCR issues can trigger warning lights, countdowns, limp mode, and repeated faults. This page explains what the system does, common failures, and how we approach diagnostics and software solutions.

What is AdBlue (SCR)?

AdBlue is a urea-based fluid used by the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system to reduce NOx emissions. The ECU monitors dosing, pressure, temperature and sensor feedback. When the system detects a fault, it can illuminate warnings, reduce power, or start a countdown to “no restart”.

Common Symptoms

  • AdBlue / SCR warning light, engine light
  • “XXX miles until no restart” countdown
  • Limp mode / reduced power
  • Repeated AdBlue top-ups with no improvement
  • Crystallisation around injector / pipework
  • Failed regeneration attempts (on some setups)

Typical Causes

  • AdBlue injector blocked / crystallised
  • Pump / pressure issues or supply faults
  • NOx sensor faults (upstream/downstream)
  • Tank / level sensor faults (and wiring issues)
  • Heater faults in cold weather
  • Control unit communication / coding issues

Our Approach

  1. Diagnostics: fault codes + live data checks to confirm the root cause.
  2. Health Check: we look for related issues that can repeat faults (wiring, sensors, dosing).
  3. Solution Options: repair/replace where sensible, or software solution where appropriate.
  4. Verification: confirm no recurring codes and that the vehicle behaves normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common AdBlue/SCR questions.

Will this stop the warning light / countdown?

A correctly calibrated solution prevents AdBlue/SCR-related fault triggers and the associated warning messages. We always advise confirming there are no additional engine faults present first.

Can you diagnose before doing anything?

Yes — diagnostics comes first. Many “AdBlue faults” are actually caused by sensors, wiring, heaters or pressure issues. We confirm the real cause before recommending the best route.

What info should I send you?
  • Vehicle reg, make/model, engine size & year
  • Any fault codes (photos/screenshots help)
  • Symptoms (countdown? limp mode? warning messages?)
  • Postcode (for mobile availability)
Do you cover mobile service?

Yes — we offer mobile diagnostics and solutions in many areas. Availability depends on location and vehicle requirements (some ECUs are bench/boot only).
