CUSTOM ECU CALIBRATION

Custom ECU Tuning. Developed With Data.

Custom Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 ECU calibration backed by professional road logging, live-data analysis and performance reporting. We analyse how the vehicle behaves under load, refine the calibration where required and validate the finished result.

PERFORMANCE TUNING — REDEFINED

A Remap Should Be More Than Uploading a File

Modern ECU tuning involves torque modelling, airflow, turbocharger control, fuelling, thermal protection, gearbox interaction and numerous calculated limits.

Our approach is to understand the vehicle first and calibrate it appropriately rather than chase a headline dyno number.

Measure first. Calibrate second. Validate afterwards.
PERFORMANCE LEVELS

Stage 1, Stage 2 & Stage 3

The stage describes the level of hardware and calibration required. The actual calibration is developed around the individual vehicle, its ECU strategy, condition and supporting hardware.

STAGE 1

Custom Stage 1

Performance calibration for an otherwise standard or near-standard vehicle, designed to improve usable power, torque and response while respecting appropriate hardware and thermal limits.

  • Custom ECU calibration
  • Torque strategy optimisation
  • Boost control refinement
  • Airflow and fuelling assessment
  • Road logging where appropriate
  • Post-calibration validation
OEM / NEAR-OEM HARDWARE
STAGE 3

Bespoke Stage 3

Calibration for significantly modified vehicles where upgraded turbochargers, fuelling changes and supporting hardware require software developed specifically around the build.

  • Hybrid / upgraded turbo setups
  • Injector and fuelling upgrades
  • Bespoke torque architecture
  • Custom boost control development
  • Repeated road-data analysis
  • Revision-based calibration process
BESPOKE VEHICLE BUILD
CUSTOM MEANS CUSTOM

The Stage Number Is Only the Starting Point.

Two vehicles with the same engine can respond differently because of mileage, ECU software version, hardware condition, modifications, fuel quality, gearbox configuration and operating conditions.

The calibration should reflect the vehicle in front of us — not simply the engine code written on a database.

01 Identify ECU software, hardware and vehicle configuration
02 Assess Vehicle condition and existing modifications
03 Calibrate Develop the appropriate ECU strategy
04 Log Capture behaviour under representative load
05 Analyse Review measured data rather than relying on feel alone
06 Refine Revise calibration where the data requires it
PROFESSIONAL ROAD LOGGING

See What the Vehicle Is Actually Doing.

During suitable tuning and diagnostic sessions, live ECU data can be recorded while the vehicle is operating under representative load.

This gives us visibility of the control systems behind the performance rather than relying entirely on subjective road feel.

Boost Control Requested versus actual pressure behaviour
Airflow MAF and relevant engine airflow data
Torque Requested and calculated torque behaviour
Fuelling Relevant fuel-system parameters where available
Temperatures Thermal behaviour during sustained loading

CUSTOMER PERFORMANCE REPORTING

Your Tuning Session Can Produce More Than a Receipt.

Suitable logged runs can generate calculated performance information alongside the raw vehicle data captured during the tuning process.

LIVE Road Data Vehicle parameters recorded during the session
CSV Raw Logs Data available for deeper analysis and comparison
HP/Nm Calculated Performance Power and torque estimates from suitable logged runs
PDF Branded Report Clear customer-facing performance sheet where applicable
i
Road-calculated power figures are not chassis-dynamometer measurements.

Estimated power and torque values are calculated from suitable logged vehicle data and operating conditions. They provide an additional calibration and comparison tool and are not represented as certified rolling-road dyno measurements.

DATA-LED TUNING

Why We Road Log

Logging allows calibration decisions to be based on how the vehicle actually responds under load, rather than relying only on theoretical figures or subjective road feel.

01

Stage 1 Validation

Check how the vehicle responds to calibration rather than relying solely on theoretical gains.

02

Stage 2 Development

Review the effect of supporting hardware and identify where the calibration requires refinement.

03

Stage 3 Development

Analyse heavily modified setups across repeated calibration revisions and logged runs.

04

Boost Control

Analyse requested versus actual boost and turbocharger control behaviour.

05

Intermittent Limp Mode

Attempt to capture faults under the operating conditions in which they actually occur.

06

Before / After Analysis

Compare suitable runs under comparable conditions to evaluate calibration changes.

ENGINE + TRANSMISSION

ECU and Gearbox Calibration Should Work Together.

On vehicles where transmission calibration is available, gearbox torque limits, shift strategy, clutch pressure and transmission behaviour may form part of the complete performance package.

DSG / DCT Shift and torque-management calibration
ZF Transmission tuning where supported
TCU Torque limits and transmission behaviour
Integrated Engine and gearbox strategies developed together
OUR PROCESS

From Vehicle Check to Final Validation

The exact process varies by ECU platform and vehicle, but the underlying principle remains the same: identify, calibrate, measure and verify.

01

Vehicle Assessment

Identify the vehicle, ECU, software, hardware and requested outcome.

02

ECU Read

Original software is read using the appropriate OBD, Bench or Boot protocol.

03

Custom Calibration

The required Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 or bespoke strategy is developed.

04

Road Test & Log

Relevant operating data is captured under representative load where appropriate.

05

Data Analysis

Vehicle behaviour is reviewed against the calibration objective and operating limits.

06

Refine & Validate

Calibration revisions are made where necessary before final validation.

PERFORMANCE TUNING FAQ

Common Questions

What is the difference between Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3?

Stage 1 is generally designed around standard or near-standard hardware. Stage 2 is calibrated around supporting performance modifications. Stage 3 is a bespoke calibration for significantly upgraded hardware such as hybrid or larger turbocharger setups.

Is every remap custom?

The appropriate calibration strategy depends on the ECU platform, vehicle condition, software version, hardware and requested outcome. Modified and higher-output vehicles may require additional logging and calibration revision work.

Do you road log every vehicle?

Logging requirements vary by vehicle, ECU platform and service. Where appropriate, relevant parameters are recorded during road testing to validate performance or diagnose vehicle behaviour.

Are the performance figures the same as a rolling-road dyno?

No. Road-calculated figures are estimates derived from suitable logged data and operating conditions. They are useful for tuning analysis and comparison but are not chassis-dynamometer measurements.

Can you tune the gearbox as well?

Transmission tuning is available on many supported DSG, DCT, ZF and other TCU platforms. Compatibility is checked against the individual vehicle before quoting.

Should I tell my insurer about a remap?

Vehicle performance modifications can affect insurance terms. Customers should inform their insurer of relevant modifications and ensure the vehicle remains suitable and legal for its intended use.
